History & Mission
Our History
The El Paso Community Foundation and the US/Mexico Border Health Association collaborated in 1994 to create a local HIV/AIDS partnership that would provide assistance to nonprofit organizations in the surrounding region working on this critical health problem. These beginning efforts and support from the National AIDS Fund resulted in the creation of the Border AIDS Partnership. We are a bi-national and tri-state collaborative that provides funding for HIV/AIDS education and prevention activities in El Paso, Texas, Southern New Mexico, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. In January 2007, BAP received its 501(c)(3) letter of determination and continues the critical work of funding community-based organizations in our region as an independent nonprofit.
Our Mission
The Border AIDS Partnership is committed to secure sustainable resources and mobilize community services to provide funding to organizations who offer education, testing and social services to individuals affected by HIV/AIDS or at high risk of infection; as well as prevention services to underserved area populations in our region, including marginalized youth of all races, sexes and ages.
