Maya Sanchez

Vice-Chair

Maya Sanchez was the first Mayor (this century) of the City of San Elizario after leading the successful incorporation of the historic town in 2013. She served four years as Mayor and an additional five years as City Administrator. Born in the Segundo Barrio of El Paso and raised in the Los Angeles area of California, she returned home in 2010 with the intention of working in service to her community and building upon a business started by her grandfather in the 1930’s. Her passions are public service, with a focus on local and state governance, and sustainable agriculture. Though she’s a gardener now, she hopes to be a farmer one day. Maya joined Border AIDS Partnership in 2018 and is currently serving as Vice-Chair.
